Description
3M polyester splicing tape 8401 is a single coated tape designed for use with many release coated papers. It features a blended silicone and rubber adhesive and a polyester film to resist splice failure. Increased initial bond can be achieved by applying heat. 3M polyester splicing tape 8401 is a translucent, cream colored, single coated splicing tape. It is commonly used for butt splicing release coated papers. Other useful applications include temporary holding and masking while providing easy removal as well as with applications that require high temperature resistance. 3M polyester splicing tape 8401 not only has a high temperature resistance, but the initial bond can actually be increased by applying heat. The blended silicone and rubber adhesive provides a higher initial bond when used with release treated substrates. The polyester film resists splice failure due to shrinkage or embrittlement. Overall, polyester splicing tape is known for having excellent thermal, abrasion and chemical resistance while maintaining its flexibility. Recommended application - butt splicing of release treated paper, temporary holding and masking, applications requiring high temperature resistance. For the best results, apply firm and even pressure to the taped area to create the best possible adhesion between the tape and paper surface. Optimal application temperature range is: 40 deg to 100 deg F (4 deg to 38 deg C). 3M splicing tape offers choices and dependability to ensure production is never at a standstill. With fast, powerful grab, 3M tape can withstand optimum production speeds and is fiber-free, easing contamination worries and eliminating cleanup time. Easy to learn, and easy to apply, 3M tape gives the user consistent splices with lower overall production cost.
